Physiotherapy, eye surgery and weight gain were my latest three wishes. My fourth wish sent me to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). A thin employee handed me a heavy box filled with beige and white single sheets of braille. She threw in a fat braille book from the early sixties. My bookshelf held atlases for a long time, but now these books are gone. On a hazy day this spring, I rushed out and bought a hole puncher. What an opportunity to sit down, relax and focus on art. I imagine viewers holding this artwork in their hands. This experiment might be a springboard for anything, including a smile. I was born and raised in Winnipeg. Some of the rest of it is a blur now.
