"
Statement/Bio For me, this project has been all about the process. Engagement books from the past two decades ( yes, I did keep them) were the source material. I read through each book, considering the unique set of emotions and impressions it brought to the surface, then selected images, doodles and writings that seemed particularly relevant to me. In certain places, I made additional notations, or added paint and collage. The installation of this piece is pivotal: I envision it arranged as a spiral, with the most recent records at the highest point, embodying the idea that, as we move through life, we return again and again to our core issues, although (hopefully) with a more evolved perspective. This configuration echoes the Manifesto; the spiral returns again and again to the centre, conveying the idea of change against a timeless backdrop. The more complete quote reads: “We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” Rosemary is a mixed-media artist, with a BFA from the University of Manitoba, and BSc in Environmental Studies from the University of Winnipeg. Currently, she is following a number of different threads in her arts practice, including landscape painting, drawing, and explorations of her personal history. Rosemary and her husband are currently on a multi-year journey across Canada, as they live in selected locations for one year. Last year's adventure found them in the Annapolis Valley, and Deux-Montagnes, a suburb of Montreal, is their current stop. Contact Information [email protected] |
