Criteria
Technique: painting/drawing Layout: centred on the page Text: stream of consciousness, free write, or rant Paper: transparent, translucent Colour: least favourite Image: found image Adjectives: ordinary or mundane; pessimistic; overwhelming; colourful; humorous Statement/Bio
For this project, my guidelines were drawing/painting, centered, rant, transparent, least favourite colour, found object. The rant came easily because in so many ways this piece drove me crazy! - especially only using my least favourite colour. Actually I failed at this as I did dip into the red paint. But I now know why I hate black – it brings out my negative side! But in turn, it supported 3 of my adjectives - mundane, pessimistic and overwhelming. The other two – colourful and humorous – well..... All in all, a fun and interesting challenge but don't look for this piece on my website! I learned I had an affinity for Art at a young age. At 8 I set a ball on a stool under light and attempted to create its volume in pencil. I believe I was somewhat successful for I continued playing with paint, cast paper, image transfer and, presently, encaustic. My style ranges form realism, surrealism to abstraction. Method is dependent upon inspiration. I have worked with the female figure and self-portrayals, but my real passion is nature and our relationship with her.
