Bending my mind around concepts while creating my art and illustration pieces is one of the great motivating forces behind my continued engagement in art making. When Pauline and Audrey floated this project by me I was immediately intrigued, not only for what I could do, but anticipating viewing the work of others given similar challenges! The idea of having the words to define a structure was particularly entertaining since some words could have cancelled others out. To have a beautiful solution was an unexpected bonus. I live on the edge of respectability while still engaging in and contributing to community often passing for an ordinary middle aged woman. Underneath this illusion is an independent artist fueled by a bubbling cauldron of ideas and a motivation to influence change in others. That the cauldron results in serenity and contentment never fails to astonish me. My art is my freedom and my life must be structured to create the freedom I need to create my art. Inspiring others to follow their passion to create art is a welcome result of my own journey. Contact Information [email protected] www.joannethomson.com |
