The painting portrays our four boys the year (1971) we added the youngest one. The oldest, holding the baby, is five and a half. Those early years seemed hectic and I seemed to be running all the time but these kids appear to be looking after themselves and each other. The three-year old is holding a penny with a bird on it. Annette Kirby lives in Smeaton Saskatchewan, but spent 35 years in Northern Manitoba and still draws many of her images from that time. Annette loves painting boats, planes and old buildings. She has settled into the habit of painting often and small, pleasing only herself and following her own muse. Annette owes a great gratitude to the artist friends she made in Manitoba, in particular those she met at Emily Crosby’s at Herb Lake Landing. Annette feels fortunate to be able to share her work at the Northern Juried Art Shows that are hosted by a different northern community every year. Contact Information [email protected] |
