This project is absolutely made for long distance artistic collaborations. It could be therapy for Seasonal Affected Depression Disorder (SADD). So much fun. Excellent for over winters, there was always that impish knowledge that we were part of an unknown quantity of equally unknown quality. Ohhh it would be so fabulous to see everyone with their work in hand. Lets meet in Flin Flon! The whole, ‘I’ve got a secret’ idea was delicious. It was lovely to be wondering who else is messing around this way, and then making sly comments to draw people out ( not that I did that, just saying) or simply catching someone’s eye when they say the word “project” and then knowing. About Tattered Lace of Tamaracks, as soon as I learned about this project I knew exactly how I would make it poetic. I would use a poem written by a best friend to an artist who is dying well before her time. One of the lines in the poem speaks of attending an Autumn Party with elderly tamaracks in tattered lace. I have held this poem close for over 25 years. So while my theme seems very serious there is joy in expressing it. I have longed to make the lace element visual. I believe this is a beginning of something more. I enjoyed the discipline of the categories and adjectives found in the project. I did use them as a starting point, every single one. As I moved through the process I found that I needed to delete variables understanding that there are no “rules”. Thank you Pauline and Audrey for your leadership, generosity and playfulness. All inspiring for me. Karen Astrid Clark is from the shore of Schist Lake just 10 km. south of Flin Flon Manitoba.
