“As a consumer, I have had to physically resist the urge to purchase a single serve coffee maker, along with the handy pods that go with it. As a busy working parent, I am finding it ever more difficult to choose products that are sustainable instead of ones that are convenient and fabulously tempting. Sometimes I wonder if I am working to achieve the level of convenience society dictates to be necessary. This piece is a nod to Dr. Suess’ The Lorax, and a reference to the remorse that the inventor of the K-cup has recently expressed, paralleling the infamous Once-ler.” Catherine Joa is an Artist and Art Educator living and working in northern Saskatchewan. Catherine works predominantly in painting but has recently been experimenting with printmaking techniques. Expressing a strong connection to the land has been paramount in Catherine’s work as a visual artist. Contact Information [email protected] |
