Statement/Bio
Connected I and II references the rippling impact of connectedness...my being asked along with other artists to participate in this marvelous collaboration, the invitation coming from far-away friends connected via the e-cloud, my brain’s synapses leisurely mulling this project’s concept and design into being, the challenge broadening my horizons through experimenting with a new art form, and other connections that will ripple and spread from there. The greatest joy is spending your days doing what you love most. For me that is designing and creating visual art. Since retiring from my energy industry career in 2008, I’ve focused on my creative self-expression – a pleasurable exploration of line, colour, medium and subject - as well as connecting with fellow artists through art groups, workshops and retreats. As a volunteer at the Watson Art Centre here in Dauphin, I also help with gallery exhibitions and their private art collection, and am inspired by the vibrant Manitoba arts community. I find creating to be a truly meditative process, design concepts seemingly pulled from the ether, “what if...?” applied and translated into visual statements. For me, there is no greater satisfaction than that. I work with Pen and Ink, Oil Pastel and mixed media. Contact Information J[email protected] http://www.riverwestartworks.com/ |
